Pure single palenque
The Single Palenque range is a new creation from Luca Gargano, an unrivaled connoisseur of the Oaxaca region
Valier’s head hunter was the first to import mezcal into Europe in 1995. A tireless defender of transparency and local craftmanship, he wanted to go beyond the concept of village appellations, as, as he puts it, «saying a wine comes from Bordeaux provides only a very small amount of information. The same goes for mezcal.»
This observation gave him the idea for a range that would draw attention not only to the village but also to the artisans that shaped the product. It took almost three years for the Velier teams to select the seven expressions found in this series. The regulations imposed by the CRM (Consejo Regulador de Mezcal) divides the different mezcals into three main categories: Mezcal (which can be distilled in a column still), Mezcal Artisanal (which requires batch distillation) and Mezcal Ancestral (which must use direct-fired stills).
Mexico, Mezcal Pure Single Palenque
Limited Edition of 562 bottles
Imperatively bottled at cask strength, our Pure Single Palenque mezcals are designed to protect small grower-producers and distillers.
Produced with the Tobaziche Tobalá agave variety, this version was created by palenquero Juan Hernández. Very slender, it traces an earthy, fruity, floral and spicy path through one end of the palette of flavours and aromas to the other. From either side of this backbone, it invites us to admire landscapes that are not exclusively representative of its birthplace.
