Takehiko Sugawara, the dance of the brush
Takehiko Sugawara is a Japanese artist whose subtle and innovative art is imbued with the diversity offered by Japanese culture. His work has been exhibited for over 30 years, primarily in Japan and France.
Heavily inspired by Anselm Kiefer and Joseph Beuys’ use of avant-garde materials, he draws on his study of fine arts and contemporary art in Dusseldorf to pay tribute to both of these very different cultures in his work. Movements in space, material reliefs, curves, shadows and light – everything is carefully chosen by this nature lover, who transposes the metamorphosis of landscapes with abstraction and meticulous detail. The materials used, which are central to the artist’s work are chosen with love and care.
Boldness and inventiveness are wisely put to use to give works a pleasing and inventive hypnotic feel.
